Biography

Tiphaine Lucas is a young French cellist who is establishing her career in Switzerland and Europe. Born in 2000 and originally from Nantes, she began playing the cello at the age of five. In 2018, she obtained her Diploma of Musical Studies at the Angers Conservatory, where she won the soloist competition, before joining Xavier Phillips and Mathieu Lejeune's class at the Haute Ecole de Musique de Lausanne. Upon graduating with her Bachelor's degree, she was awarded the HEMU Valais-Wallis Special Prize for the excellence of her graduation recital and her commitment as director of the Pulsion Winter Festival, which gives voice to young artists studying in the canton of Valais. Supported by a scholarship from the Max D. Jost Foundation, she was awarded the 2021 prize from the Chursächsischen Philharmonie in Saxony. Passionate about both orchestras and chamber music, she performs with various ensembles at festivals in France, Switzerland, and internationally: the Februarkonzerte Zweisimmen, the Schubertiade de Sion, the Rencontres Musicales d'Évian, the Chorégies d'Orange, and the International Viola Congress Salaya in Thailand. She regularly plays with the Nexus Orchestra and the Lausanne Chamber Orchestra. Dedicated to making art accessible to all, she is involved with the Concerts du Coeur association, which aims to offer concerts in institutions that help people in social difficulty. Eager to experience music in her native region, Tiphaine enjoys performing in the summer in her region, notably in Herbignac with the Société Historique, in Prinquiau with the Renaissance Patrimoine de l'Escurays association, in Sainte-Reine-de-Bretagne, and in Saint-Lyphard. After her Master of Concert in 2023, she continued to perfect her skills at the Zurich University of the Arts with Orfeo Mandozzi and with great cello masters such as Marc Coppey, Peter Bruns, Steven Isserlis and Clemens Hagen.
